Benjamin Sesko has set his sights on winning trophies with Manchester United after an encouraging debut season at Old Trafford, saying he believes the club is moving in the right direction under interim manager Michael Carrick. The forward, who joined from RB Leipzig last summer, said United have the quality to compete for major honours in the coming seasons.
"I think we did great. Still, (there are) some games left but I think we're doing great," Sesko said, adding that the squad has "a great spirit in the team." He made clear what he wants next. "I would like to really achieve some trophies here," he said. "Of course we need to do a lot for it, but I believe we have the capacity to do that."
The remarks land at the end of a season in which United have been looking for signs that the project under Carrick is taking shape. Sesko's view is that the foundations are in place, and his comments suggest the club's own expectations are rising with them. That matters because a player speaking that plainly about silverware is not talking about hope alone; he is talking about the standard he expects the team to meet.
There is still a gap between belief and medals, and Sesko did not pretend otherwise. He said United will need to do a lot to turn that capacity into trophies, a reminder that the progress he praised is only the start of the job. For now, though, he sounds like a player who has settled quickly and is looking beyond adjustment toward winning.
