Green Bay signed wide receiver to a contract extension on Friday, a move general manager announced as the Packers kept one of their most productive young playmakers in place.

Reed arrived as a second-round pick with the No. 50 overall selection in the 2023 Draft out of Michigan State and has turned that start into a strong opening three seasons. He has played in 40 games with 26 starts and added four postseason contests with three starts. In the regular season, Reed has 138 receptions for 1,857 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also rushing 34 times for 310 yards and three scores. He has added 12 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs, along with 27 punt returns for 225 yards during the regular season and four more postseason returns for 42 yards.

The Packers did not disclose the length or financial terms of the extension, but the numbers behind Reed’s rise help explain the timing. Among wide receivers with at least 100 receptions since 2023, he ranks No. 1 in the NFL in passer rating when targeted, and his 72.3% receptions-per-target rate ranks seventh in the league. He was also the first player in league history to post 750-plus receiving yards, 55-plus receptions, six-plus receiving touchdowns, 100-plus rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in each of his first two NFL seasons.

Reed’s first year in Green Bay already pointed to what was coming. He set a franchise rookie record with 64 receptions in 2023, topping ’s mark of 55 catches from 1988, and he has continued to produce as both a receiver and a runner. The extension gives the Packers another answer at a position group that has been central to their offense, while leaving the financial picture out of view for now.
