The was in St. Joseph County on Sunday afternoon to survey damage from the storms that moved through Friday night into Saturday, focusing on the town of Lydick and an area north of South Bend Regional Airport in portions of German Township.

Officials said the survey is not finished. Additional information and research are still needed in both areas, and the findings are expected to be complete early this week.

The work is part of the broader assessment of storm damage across the county, and the is also looking for reports from the area between Lydick and the state line. It is possibly seeking damage information from portions of Michigan's Berrien and Cass Counties as well.

That wider search matters because the first survey alone may not capture the full path or strength of the storms. The weather service is asking people to send photos and locations through the webmaster account at nws.nothernindiana@noaa.gov, giving forecasters more evidence to compare with what they saw on the ground.

For now, the answer to whether the weekend storms left more widespread damage is still being assembled, but the survey already shows the hardest-hit areas are concentrated around Lydick, German Township and the border region near the state line.
