Rep. Randy Fine said Wednesday that deporting every illegal immigrant would be the best way to make the United States affordable, arguing that removals would push down housing, health care, education and car insurance costs.
Fine, a Florida Republican, wrote on X that deportations would lower rent and housing prices because fewer people would be competing for them. He said health care costs would fall because uninsured immigrants are using emergency rooms, and he argued education costs would drop because uninsured minors are not costing $10,000 to $20,000 a year. He also said car insurance would become cheaper because uninsured immigrants are driving up uninsured and underinsured motorist costs.
The comments were the latest and most direct expression of Fine’s hard line against amnesty. On Tuesday, he posted, “I’m not a no on amnesty. I’m a hell no. Deport them ALL.” He followed that with, “Let me be clear. I will never, ever, ever, ever vote for amnesty. For anyone. Ever,” then doubled down Wednesday by writing, “The number one thing we can do to make America affordable is to deport EVERY illegal immigrant,” and, “DEPORTATIONS = AFFORDABILITY.”
Fine’s remarks tie a broad immigration crackdown to a kitchen-table issue many voters care about most: prices. He did not offer evidence in the posts for the cost claims, but his argument was clear — that deportation, not legalization or compromise, is his answer to affordability.
That leaves no room for ambiguity. Fine is not signaling a willingness to trade on amnesty, and his message on Wednesday made the answer plain: he wants deportations, not legalization, as the policy he says would bring down costs.
