Madison Warner, the 36-year-old daughter of U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner and Lisa Collis, died Monday after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues. A statement released Monday morning announced her passing.
“We are heartbroken beyond words by the passing of our beloved daughter, Madison, 36, after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues,” Warner and Collis said. They added that Madison “filled our lives with love and laughter, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void.”
The family’s statement made clear how long the struggle had been and how deeply it shaped their lives. Madison was the couple’s daughter, and the health problems that marked her life were described by the family as a decades-long battle.
Warner and Collis said they were grateful for the support they have received from friends and family and asked for privacy as they face the loss. That request closes a statement that is both public and intensely personal, with the family mourning a daughter they say brought them joy even as they lived with a long illness.
