Patchy fog could slow the start of Saturday near rivers and waterways in the New Orleans area, but it should clear quickly after sunrise. The rest of the day is expected to turn warm and partly sunny, with highs climbing into the mid to upper 80s and most of Saturday staying dry.
A cold front moving in from the north will change that by Saturday evening and overnight, bringing a line of showers and a few thunderstorms into the region. Some moderate rainfall is possible at times, though severe weather is not expected. Rain and storms are likely to continue into early Sunday before tapering off by midday.
That same timing matters for LSU athletics in Baton Rouge, where warm and dry conditions are expected for the start of both games. LSU softball hosts Ole Miss at Tiger Park at 5 PM Saturday, while LSU baseball plays Texas A&M at Alex Box Stadium at 4:30 pm. The baseball game was moved up because of the expected weather, and clouds are set to build through the evening with a chance of showers and storms later in the game.
Behind the front, drier air will move in, bringing lower humidity and cooler mornings to start next week. Afternoons should still feel pleasant, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 under mostly sunny skies. For the region, Saturday is the last warm, dry stretch before a wetter night and a more comfortable start to the new week.
