Atlanta weather stays hot on Saturday, with highs climbing into the mid to upper 80s across the metro area and some parts of central Georgia edging toward 90 degrees. The day should stay mostly sunny, with only a few clouds building in the afternoon, and fire danger remains elevated.
A cold front moves through late Saturday night into Sunday morning, bringing the only chance for showers in this stretch, and mostly for the far northwest parts of the state. Any rain should be gone by late morning Sunday, leaving most of the day dry with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The system will not amount to much. Rain totals are expected to stay around a tenth of an inch or less, which means the front will cool things down without making much of a dent in the ongoing dry conditions. Warm temperatures, low humidity and dry vegetation are keeping the fire danger up Saturday, and the weak rain will do little to change that.
High pressure builds back in Monday, restoring dry weather and near-normal temperatures before the warmth returns again. Temperatures will gradually climb through the week and reach the mid to upper 80s by Thursday, pushing the area back toward the same heat that settles in on Saturday.
