The Kentucky Derby Festival released the full Thunder Over Louisville airshow list on Tuesday, giving spectators their first complete look at the aircraft scheduled for the annual Derby-season show. WLKY is this year's broadcast partner, and the flight order will not follow the alphabetical list that was made public.
Among the aircraft on the lineup is the WV ANG “Charlie West” C130J-30 Super Hercules. The timing for each plane will be announced closer to Thunder Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
The release matters because Thunder Over Louisville is one of the biggest annual markers of Derby season, and the list is still not final. The lineup was posted in alphabetical order rather than flight order, so the public can see who is in the show but not yet when each aircraft will take off.
That leaves one important piece still pending for people watching Louisville weather and planning for the event: the exact run of show. The Derby Festival said the list is subject to change before show day, which means the lineup could shift again before the planes fly.
