The Cleveland Browns are again being tied to an NFL draft trade, with rumors circulating that Dallas Cowboys could be part of the discussion as the teams weigh what to do with the No. 6 overall pick. With the 2026 NFL Draft approaching, Cleveland has a decision to make on how to use that sixth pick.
Yahoo Sports said in an April 15 roundup of Browns coverage that rumors continue about a possible draft trade. The same roundup noted that the Browns own the No. 6 overall pick and that the general consensus is they will take wide receiver Carnell Tate or use the selection in another way if the board breaks differently.
The pick carries extra weight because Cleveland holds nine selections in all, giving the club more room than most teams to move around the draft board or keep building in place. That flexibility is why the Browns are showing up in multiple draft-related items, from trade speculation to roster strategy and mock drafts.
One reason the conversation is not only about the draft board is Harold Fannin Jr., who had a great rookie season in 2025. Todd Monken could unlock the tight end even further if the offense continues to lean on young playmakers, and that possibility adds another layer to how Cleveland thinks about the draft capital it already has.
For now, the Browns are sitting on a choice that could shape the rest of their offseason: keep the sixth pick and use it, or turn it into something else before the 2026 NFL Draft arrives.
