It has felt like spring lately, but the pattern is not settling down. A warm and windy day is in store, and there is a chance for springtime thunderstorms tonight.

Storms are expected to pop along the dryline in Kansas and Oklahoma this afternoon, then work west through the evening before weakening as they push into Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. Even so, damaging winds and a low tornado risk remain possible west of I-44 from 8 PM to midnight tonight, while scattered rain and thunderstorms linger into Wednesday morning.

The day Wednesday looks especially unsettled. Multiple rounds of rainy weather are expected, with rain and storms becoming more widespread late Wednesday into Wednesday night. Embedded severe weather is possible later in the day, with some storms capable of damaging wind gusts and large hail. The tornado risk is very low, but it is not zero.

Leftover rain and storms should clear Thursday morning, and skies are expected to turn sunny by Thursday afternoon. The break will not last long. The weather is expected to stay quiet into Friday morning, but a strong cold front will push in Friday night and likely spark a wave of thunderstorms overnight. Some of those storms could be severe before the front clears the area around sunrise Saturday.

Chilly air will move in quickly Saturday morning, and the rain is expected to slowly end early Saturday. The weekend turns much cooler, with highs in the 50s on Saturday and the low 60s on Sunday. Lows will dip into the mid to upper 30s Saturday night, though the chance of a freeze overnight is still low. For now, the answer to the question is yes: the mild feel is temporary, and the next several days bring repeated shots at rain, storms and a sharp weekend cooldown.
