Kyle Schwarber broke a tie in the third inning with a go-ahead, three-run homer, Bryce Harper followed two pitches later with a solo shot, and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 on Saturday night in Phoenix.
The win ended Philadelphia’s three-game losing streak and sent Arizona to its first loss after three straight wins. Schwarber’s blast was his fourth home run this season, and it came after the Diamondbacks had opened fast against Taijuan Walker.
Ketel Marte led off the first with his 14th career leadoff home run, then Adrian Del Castillo added an RBI single to put Arizona up 2-0. The Phillies answered in the third when Schwarber turned on a pitch for a 419-foot drive to right, and Harper made it back-to-back homers for the second time in two pitches, giving Philadelphia a lead it did not give back.

Walker settled after the rough opening and allowed two runs and four hits in five innings. Philadelphia’s bullpen then handled the rest, with Brad Keller giving up a two-out RBI single to Jose Fernandez in the eighth before Jhoan Duran worked a perfect ninth for his fifth save. The Phillies bullpen has allowed two earned runs in its last 26 1/3 innings.
Rookie Justin Crawford added two hits and was batting.350, while Del Castillo finished with three hits for Arizona. Gabriel Moreno did not play for the Diamondbacks after leaving Friday’s game with left lower back tightness and being sent for an MRI. Manager Torey Lovullo said the issue was muscular rather than a bone problem or a typical back injury, and added that it looked like an injured-list stint, though he also suggested the recovery could be quick.
