Gabby Williams has narrowed her free-agency choices to the Las Vegas Aces, Minnesota Lynx and Golden State Valkyries, according to Andraya Carter of. The forward enters the offseason after a career year with the Seattle Storm and is one of the most sought-after players on the market.
Williams, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, made her first career All-Star team last season while playing all 44 games for Seattle. She averaged 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.3 steals in a little over 31 minutes per game, shot 42.2 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from 3-point range and 85.3 percent from the free-throw line, and earned All-Defensive First Team honors while finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Her path to this point has been anything but straightforward. Williams started her WNBA career with the Chicago Sky and played three seasons there before the team suspended her contract and traded her to the Los Angeles Sparks while she was committed to the French national team for the Tokyo Olympics. She never played for Los Angeles, and after the suspension was lifted, the Sparks sent her to Seattle.

That history matters because Williams is now choosing between three teams with very different selling points. The Lynx could be in the mix again once Napheesa Collier gets healthy and depending on the other moves they make, while the Valkyries are coming off a highly successful inaugural season. The Aces remain the most established title contender of the group, which makes Williams' next stop one of the offseason's most consequential decisions.
For Seattle, the possibility of losing Williams would mean parting with a player who gave the Storm elite production at both ends and stayed on the floor all year. For Williams, the decision now appears down to fit, opportunity and the chance to keep building on the best season of her career.
