MSC Radio Group has acquired four radio stations in Topeka, Kansas, in a deal that shifts KSAJ FM, WIBW FM, KTPK and WIBW AM to new ownership, pending FCC approval. The purchase marks a change for a market where the stations had been under Connoisseur Media.
The move puts MSC in position to steer four Topeka radio stations with an emphasis on local programming, community involvement and closer ties to listeners and advertisers. Justin Fluke said MSC aims to create a more personalized and responsive radio experience, while Jeff Warshaw said the stations have deep connections with listeners.
Connoisseur Media said the acquisition gives it an opportunity to refine its portfolio and focus on key growth markets. That makes the sale more than a routine transaction: it is a handoff in a city where local news, sports and agriculture programming still matter to daily life, and where the company says it plans to bring local ownership and operation back to Topeka.
The pending FCC approval remains the final step before the deal is complete. For Topeka listeners, the immediate question is not whether the stations will change hands, but how quickly MSC can turn its promises of local control into the kind of programming and advertiser relationships that make a difference on the dial.
