Luka Bogavac said Tuesday that he will remain at North Carolina next season and will not enter the NCAA transfer portal, ending the uncertainty that had surrounded his future after the Tar Heels changed coaches. He told TarHeel247: “Nope, I’m staying.”
Bogavac, a 22-year-old freshman from Mojkovac, Montenegro, was recruited to Chapel Hill by Hubert Davis and became one of UNC’s most productive newcomers last season. He played in all 33 games, averaging 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists while logging 24.3 minutes per game. He shot 40.2 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from three-point range, production that gave North Carolina a useful perimeter option throughout the year.
His best stretch came in early March against Clemson, when he scored a career-high 20 points and knocked down six three-pointers. That game hinted at the role Bogavac could play going forward, especially after spending four professional seasons in the Adriatic Basketball Association before arriving at North Carolina last summer.

The coaching change added to the uncertainty. North Carolina now has Michael Malone at the top of the program, and players recruited by one staff often face decisions when a new one takes over. Bogavac’s choice removes one question for the Tar Heels and gives Malone a proven scorer to build around as UNC tries to shape its next roster. For a team looking for continuity, keeping luka bogavac may matter more than any portal headline.
