Julia Letlow hosted a town hall in Alexandria on Friday, May 8, drawing community members and business leaders to Central Louisiana Technical Community College for a discussion centered on workforce and economic development in Cenla.
The meeting put women in the workforce, early education programs, carbon capture and grocery costs on the table, a mix of kitchen-table concerns and long-term economic issues that have been shaping the conversation in central Louisiana. Letlow, Louisiana’s current 5th District Representative, used the event to speak directly with voters while campaigning for Senate against incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy.
The gathering came at a moment when the race is already defining itself around whether Letlow can translate her House profile into a statewide campaign. By hosting a public forum in Alexandria, she put herself in front of the local business and civic leaders most likely to judge whether her pitch on jobs and costs matches the reality they are living now.
That is the test in front of her: whether the concerns raised in Alexandria become the foundation of a credible Senate challenge, or remain the same familiar list of promises voters have heard before.
