Nick Pasqual was found guilty Friday of attempted murder in the May 23, 2024 stabbing of Allie Shehorn, a Hollywood makeup artist he was accused of attacking at her Sunland home. The San Fernando, California, jury also convicted the 36-year-old actor from How I Met Your Mother of first-degree residential burglary with a person present and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or child's parent.
The verdict closes one chapter in a case that began with a domestic violence arrest on May 18, 2024, and ended with Shehorn on the witness stand, her neck and arms marked by scars. Her sentencing hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, June 2. Pasqual was first released on a $50,000 bond after the May 18 arrest, and Shehorn's friend Jed Dornoff told the court that “as soon as he paid his bail, he came after her.”
Shehorn had filed a restraining order against Pasqual days before he broke into her Sunland, California, home, according to The Los Angeles Times. On the stand, she said, “I locked the door and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open,” according to ABC7, before adding, “I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there's another lock on that door.” Pasqual stabbed her an estimated 20 times, leaving injuries to her throat, back, chest and wrists.
Christine White found Shehorn after the attack and told The Los Angeles Times, “I just told her to keep her hand on her throat to stop the bleeding.” Shehorn later underwent 14 hours of surgery and spent multiple days in the intensive care unit. Pasqual allegedly fled California after the attack and was detained at the United States/Mexico border in Sierra Blanca, Texas, according to PEOPLE. The case now moves to sentencing, where the court will decide how long he will serve for a violent attack that followed a domestic violence arrest and a recent restraining order.
