Chris Weidman and Thomas Gerbasi were named to the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2026, with the promotion making the announcement on UFC.com and setting the induction ceremony for Thursday, July 9, during the 14th Annual UFC International Fight Week.
The honor puts Weidman alongside one of the UFC’s most familiar behind-the-scenes figures, Gerbasi, who was named in the Contributor category after serving as editorial director, head writer and company historian for almost two decades. Dana White said Gerbasi was “a close member of the UFC family and a very talented writer.”
Gerbasi’s addition reflects a career that reached far beyond UFC. He authored UFC: A Visual History, The UFC Encyclopedia and The Official UFC Fan Guide, and his final book, Boxing: The 100 Greatest Fighters, was released in September 2025. In 2022, he was inducted into the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame for his work covering the sport, and in 2024 he received the Nat Fleischer Award for excellence in boxing journalism from the Boxing Writers Association of America.
The Hall of Fame announcement places the 2026 class in the spotlight now, with the ceremony still months away and the full significance of the selections likely to sharpen by the time fight week arrives in July. For Weidman, the news adds another milestone to his UFC profile; for Gerbasi, it is a rare public salute to a writer whose name has long appeared behind the stories, books and records that helped document the sport.
