Robert Garcia says Anthony Joshua will finish Tyson Fury if the heavyweight rivals finally meet in a boxing ring, adding that the British former champion has the power, the right hand and the mentality to do it.
Garcia said Joshua has the skills to win and believes the fight swings on whether he arrives mentally and physically at 100%. He pointed to Fury's tendency to get caught by right hands and said Joshua can capitalize if he lands clean.
The comments land as Joshua's next bout is already set: he faces Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Even so, the possibility of a Joshua-Fury meeting remains part of the conversation, with Eddie Hearn saying Turki Alalshikh had mentioned a two-fight deal that would see Joshua box this summer before a Battle of Britain later in the year.
Joshua and Fury have been linked since they turned professional around the same time, and the fight has been talked about for years as one British boxing has not yet delivered. The pair could even have boxed a trilogy by now, but the matchup has stayed dependent on scheduling and the sport's shifting priorities.
Garcia, who said Joshua has to be fully ready to make the most of the opportunity, argued that Fury would still be dangerous because of his size and style. He described Fury as a fighter who can come in heavy and still give a good fight, but said Joshua's right hand remains the shot that changes everything if the matchup is finally made.
For now, Joshua's immediate task is Prenga, not Fury. If the bigger fight comes together later, Garcia's view is clear: Joshua has the tools to end it early, provided he turns up in the shape and mindset required for the biggest night of his career.
