Oman beat Nepal A by 75 runs in the first one-day match on April 23 at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground in Mulpani, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match ODI series. Nepal A were cruising at 177 for 2 in 34.2 overs before their chase fell apart and they were bowled out for 210 in 44.4 overs.
Oman had opted to bat after winning the toss and made 280 for 9 in 50 overs, with the innings built around half-centuries from Mujibur Ali and Jatinder Singh. Mujibur Ali scored 72 off 85 balls with four fours and three sixes, while Jatinder Singh made 58, and Hasir Dafedar added 46 off 41 balls. Vinayak Shukla chipped in with 25 and Jatinder Ramanandi finished unbeaten on 17.
Nepal A’s reply looked steady at first. Anil Kumar Sah made 50 off 64 balls with six boundaries, Ishaan Pandey scored 52 off 62 balls with three fours, and Dev Khanal had 43 before he was dismissed in the 35th over. Trit Raj Das added 31 off 48 balls, but the innings unravelled once the middle order was exposed and the wickets began to tumble.
Nepal A lost eight wickets for 33 runs, sliding from 177 for 2 to 210 all out. They also fell from 188 for 3 to losing seven wickets for 22 runs, a collapse that turned a manageable chase into a heavy defeat in the space of a few overs. Sandeep Jora made 11, and the lower order could not stop the slide.
Shakeel Ahmed led Oman’s attack with three wickets, while Nadeem Khan and Mujibur Ali took two apiece and Hannan Ali claimed one. For Nepal A, Akash Chand took four wickets, Santosh Yadav had two, and Shahab Alam, Sher Malla and Rashid Khan took one each. Nepal A will get another chance against Oman on Friday, when the series continues with the second match.
