Texas A&M’s top-10 series opener against No. 8 was postponed Friday because of inclement weather, pushing the start of the SEC baseball series into a Saturday doubleheader in College Station. The teams are now scheduled to play at 1 p.m., with the second game beginning 45 minutes after the first ends.

Fans holding tickets from Friday’s game can use them for Saturday’s second game, while tickets for Saturday’s original game will be valid for the opening game of the doubleheader. The change came after a low pressure system across West Texas sent waves of showers and storms into the area starting Thursday night and continuing through Friday, when many spots picked up between 1 and 4 inches of rain.

Scattered showers kept moving over already saturated ground through Friday evening, leaving minor flooding a concern in urban, low-lying areas and on roadways. Heavy rain and lightning were the main worries, with a few isolated stronger storms still possible before conditions were expected to quiet down later Friday night.

Saturday was expected to bring a sharp turn in the weather, with cooler and drier air, plenty of sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the low 70s. A light northeast breeze was also expected, but Aggieland will still be busy from morning to night.

The ’s doubleheader is only part of the schedule. The is set to face Oklahoma at 12:15 p.m. and 4 p.m., the Aggie men’s tennis team will host at the Mitchell Tennis Center beginning at 10 a.m., and Kyle Field is expecting more than 100,000 fans for the at 7 p.m.

The postponement is a reminder of how quickly spring weather can reshape a packed sports weekend, even in a top-10 SEC series. For Texas A&M, the baseball spotlight now shares Saturday with softball, tennis and one of the biggest crowds of the day at Kyle Field.
