An Amber Alert was canceled less than an hour after it was issued in East Baton Rouge Parish on Wednesday morning, after authorities said a one-year-old boy who had been abducted was found safe.
The alert went out around 8:45 a.m. The boy had been taken around 7 a.m., officials said, when a truck was stolen from the In A Flash gas station along Airline Highway.
Louisiana State Police said the suspect reportedly stole the mother’s vehicle from a local gas station and fled with the child in the backseat. Investigators were searching for a gray 2013 Toyota Tundra with Louisiana license plate C372710.
The suspect was described as an unidentified Black male wearing black jeans, a black hoodie and brown boots, and authorities said he was believed to be armed. The short span between the alert and its cancellation made one thing clear: the search ended before the case could widen, and the child was safe before midday.
Anyone with additional information was asked to call 911.
