Al Taawoun host Al Ittihad at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium on Wednesday evening in a meeting between two sides separated by four points and both trying to finish the Saudi Pro League season on stronger terms. The home side are fifth with 49 points, while Al Ittihad sit sixth on 45.
Al Taawoun have 14 wins, seven draws and eight defeats, with 52 goals scored and 38 conceded. Their recent form has been steady rather than spectacular, with two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five outings, and they arrive off a 2-1 away win over Al Najma in their most recent league match. At home, they have won seven and drawn four of 14 fixtures.
Al Ittihad, by contrast, have won 13, drawn six and lost nine, and their league form has slipped at the wrong time. They have taken only one win from their last four league fixtures, and they were beaten 1-0 by FC Machida Zelvia in the AFC Champions League in their most recent outing. Away from home, they have four wins, six draws and four defeats.
The sides have met five times in the recent record, with Al Ittihad winning three of those games and the other two ending level. Their most recent direct encounter finished in a 1-0 win for Al Ittihad, giving the visitors a small psychological edge before this return fixture. But the wider picture is less settled than that record suggests. Al Taawoun are 14 points behind fourth-placed Al Qadsiah, which has left their hopes of continental qualification effectively gone, while Al Ittihad's form drop has come after they were in contention for a top-four finish earlier in the season.
Al Taawoun go into the match with no injury concerns, although Saad Al Mousa has been absent since suffering an ankle injury in November 2025. Mohammed Al Dossari and Qassem Lajami are expected to be part of the defensive unit, with Andrei Girotto and Mohammed Mahzari also likely to line up at the back in front of Maylson in goal. Angelo Fulgini and Aschraf El Mahdioui are set to operate in central midfield alongside Flavio.
Al Ittihad's slide has come during a period in which the squad has also had to absorb major departures, with Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante leaving in the winter 2025-26 window. That has left a significant void, and Wednesday's trip offers another test of how far the team can still go while trying to recover their place in the race near the top of the table.
