The said they committed no error after said the team scanned the wrong area of ’ body, a dispute that has added another layer of friction between the Lakers and Mavericks. Redick said Saturday that the Lakers made it clear what needed to be imaged, but that Dallas scanned the wrong area.

“I don’t know where the chain of command lies with Dallas imaging, but uh, they scanned the wrong area,” Redick said. He added later, “Not on our end. We made it explicit what was supposed to be scanned, but they scanned the wrong area.”

The Mavericks responded that their medical staff followed standard imaging protocols based on the information they had at the time and that there was no error in the scan performed on Reaves. The Lakers had asked Dallas’ medical staff to image him when the team was in the city two days after he hurt himself.

Reaves suffered a Grade 2 left oblique injury on Thursday in the Lakers’ loss to the , and reported that he is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. That timeline matters now because the Lakers are already trying to navigate the stretch without one of their key scorers while the calendar turns toward the postseason.

The same Oklahoma City game also left Luka Dončić with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, and the injury news has followed him into the week after the Mavericks beat the Lakers 134-128 on Sunday. Dončić flew to Spain on Sunday to receive treatment on his hamstring in hopes of returning during the postseason, a reminder that both teams are carrying damage from the same night while the standings and the schedule keep moving.

Dallas’ Sunday win snapped a 14-game home losing streak and came with Dončić posting 45 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. The result kept the Mavericks in fourth place in the Western Conference, even as the medical dispute over Reaves and the status of Dončić show how quickly one game in Oklahoma City has spilled into everything that has come after it.
