Barcelona are reportedly weighing a move that would put Roony Bardghji at the center of their push for Alessandro Bastoni, with the 20-year-old winger being considered as part of a cash-plus-player offer for the Inter Milan defender. The plan under discussion would see Hansi Flick’s side try to use fringe players to soften Inter’s stance.
Resa Sport via FCInter1908 reported that Barcelona cannot meet Inter’s €70 million asking price for Bastoni, leaving the Spanish club to search for another way into the deal. Inter, for their part, have no interest in selling the 26-year-old this summer.
Bardghji’s name carries a different kind of logic inside the negotiations. Barcelona signed him from FC Copenhagen last summer for €2 million, hoping his ceiling would eventually justify the gamble. Instead, he has made just four La Liga starts this term, scoring one goal and adding one assist, a return that has done little to secure his place in Flick’s plans.
That lack of minutes is why the Swedish winger is now being viewed as a possible makeweight rather than a central piece of Barcelona’s future. The report says Bardghji is ready to cut ties with Barcelona at the end of the season, a sign that his move to Camp Nou has not delivered the breakthrough that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
Barcelona still need a way around Inter’s resistance, and Bardghji may be the player they use to test it. If the Italian club keep their valuation and keep Bastoni out of reach, the Spaniards will have to decide whether a player-plus-cash formula is enough to turn an unlikely idea into a real transfer.
