Warren and Dowdle are both undrafted backs, and each is coming off 1,000-yard performances in 2025, a season that gave Bettis enough reason to imagine real power behind the line of scrimmage. He said he “loves” the physicality the Steelers have with those two in the backfield.
For a franchise with a long memory at running back, the comparison is no small thing. Bettis’ description invites the kind of old-school shorthand that sticks, the sort that can outlive a season if the production follows. But Bettis did not call the job finished.
