Irving police reunited a missing 4-year-old boy with his family early Monday morning, hours after the department activated an Amber Alert with the . The child had been taken Sunday night by 25-year-old , police said.

The boy was last seen in the 3400 block of Country Club, wearing a dark green sweater with an Aeropostale logo, red sweats and white Jordans. Police said he is 3 feet tall, weighs about 32 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Cardoza-Ortega was described as about 6 foot 2 inches tall, 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and blue shorts and was reportedly driving a 2008 gray Nissan Altima with Texas license plate WJT9559. Anyone with information about his whereabouts was asked to call the at 972-273-1010 or 911.

The case moved fast: the alert went out early Monday, and by the same morning the child was back with his family. Police did not say where the boy was found or how he was located, leaving the central public question answered only in part.
