Odell Beckham Jr. was in the Giants building on Monday for a physical, and he also worked out with the team, according to a report. The visit put Beckham back inside the place where his NFL career began, even though there were no immediate plans to sign him.
Mike Garafolo said Beckham worked out with the Giants on Monday, while Josina Anderson reported that any reunion would likely come after the draft starts on Thursday. That matters because Beckham has already said he wants to return to the NFL after the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, and he specifically expressed interest in coming back to New York.
Beckham was taken by the Giants with the No. 12 overall pick in 2014 and quickly became one of the league’s most recognizable players. In 2018, he agreed to a new five-year extension worth up to $95 million that included $65 million in total guarantees, a deal that reflected how central he had become to the franchise before the split.
The Giants traded Beckham to the Browns in 2019 for the No. 17 overall pick, their second third-round pick and safety Jabrill Peppers. Cleveland later reworked his contract before waiving him after the trade deadline in 2021, and Beckham moved on to a one-year deal with the Rams, where he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl win. He sat out all of 2022 after the injury.
Beckham later signed a one-year contract with the Ravens before becoming a free agent again and joining the Dolphins on a one-year, $3 million contract. Miami let him go in December 2024 after he appeared in nine games, caught nine passes for 55 yards and had no touchdowns.
The timing of Monday’s visit gives the Giants a chance to assess a familiar name without committing to anything before the draft begins. It also fits Beckham’s own public push to get back into the league, but the immediate message from those around the situation is that a return to New York is being evaluated, not finalized.
