STC Group has expanded its partnership with Netflix, moving to give customers on its Baity Fiber packages complimentary access to the streaming service. The company said the offer is being added alongside a selection of other streaming services already integrated into STC TV.
The upgraded Baity Fiber package with Netflix included is currently in a test phase, with a wide-scale roll-out expected in early summer. That makes the move a near-term change for subscribers, not just a plan on paper, and it signals that STC is trying to make its broadband offer more valuable by tying it more closely to entertainment.
This is an expansion of an existing relationship between STC Group and Netflix, not a first-time deal. STC TV already carries other streaming services, so Netflix is being folded into a platform the company has been building out rather than added to a blank slate. The result is a broader bundle that puts internet access and streaming under one roof.
The remaining question is how smoothly the test phase translates into a mass market launch in early summer. If the rollout matches the current plan, Netflix will become a standard part of the upgraded Baity Fiber package and one more reason for subscribers to stay inside STC’s ecosystem.
