Rodrigo Conceição will return to the Estádio do Dragão on Sunday when Tondela face FC Porto, a comeback that brings the former Porto player back to the ground where his three-year link with the club ended in the summer of 2023.
Conceição, who made 25 first-team appearances for Porto in the 2022-23 season, left for Swiss club Zurique and went on to play 57 matches across two seasons before returning to Portugal in the winter transfer window. He signed for Tondela for one and a half seasons and has already played 14 matches for the club, mostly on the left flank, making himself a regular starter ahead of the visit to Porto.
That makes Sunday more than a routine league date for Conceição. He is not arriving as a bit-part substitute or a player still searching for rhythm. He comes back with minutes behind him, a settled role and the kind of familiarity that turns a fixture into a personal reunion.
The move also closes a loop that began when his time at Porto came to an end after three years and took him through Switzerland before he landed at Tondela. Now he is set to step back into the Dragão wearing different colours, with the same stadium greeting him from the other side.
