Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos reached a temporary custody agreement for their two daughters, and a Collin County, Texas, judge signed it Wednesday, one day before the couple was set to discuss the matter in court.
The former couple entered into an informal temporary settlement agreement on Monday, according to the record, after Prescott filed a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship on March 17. In that filing, he asked that he and Ramos be appointed joint managing conservators of Margaret and Aurora, who were 2 years old and 10 months old, respectively.
The timing matters because the case had already been headed toward a hearing. A custody hearing was first scheduled for April 2, and that was when the exes told the judge they had agreed to try to resolve their issues outside court. The agreement signed Wednesday is temporary, and the source said it was not filed and will not be filed unless enforcement is needed.
Texas SAPCR cases are used to define parental rights and responsibilities for children, which is why this filing matters beyond the headline. Prescott and Ramos began dating in May 2023, welcomed Margaret in February 2024, got engaged eight months later and welcomed Aurora in May 2025. Their split has also unfolded against earlier reports that they had called off their destination wedding in Lake Como, Italy, weeks before it was supposed to happen.
Ramos’ attorney, Raymond Rafool, said she is happy the pair can make decisions for their girls and their family on their own, adding that she believes working together as parents will bring long-term benefits and that she remains focused on the girls’ best interests. Prescott’s attorney, Levi G. McCathern II, called the deal a positive step forward and said it reflects Prescott’s commitment to raising the daughters in a healthy, supportive environment.
The one piece that still lingers is the human one behind the filing: a public breakup, a temporary legal fix and a future that now depends on whether the two can keep the peace outside of court. A source previously claimed Ramos believed Prescott had a history of communicating with other women during the relationship, while Prescott’s attorney said the decision to call off the wedding was mutual and urged people to stop inventing stories and respect their privacy.
