is on his way to Lawrence to visit , giving the Jayhawks another frontcourt target as they continue their search for a first transfer commitment. The 6-foot-9 forward said Tuesday that his flight would land later in the day and that the visit should last a couple of days.

“I’m headed to Kansas for a visit, and I can’t wait. My flight gets in later today, and I think that my visit lasts for a couple of days,” Dawes said.

The trip comes after a strong season at , where Dawes started all 32 games in 2025-26 and averaged 12.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. For Kansas, that kind of production is the point. The program has spent this week lining up frontcourt options, with reported visits already from and , and Charlotte center expected Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Dawes, who is from Houston, began his college career at and started 23 of 32 games as a true freshman, averaging 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 23.6 minutes. He moved to Utah as a sophomore and worked off the bench in the frontcourt before briefly entering the transfer portal after the Utes changed coaches from to Alex Jensen. Dawes later returned to Utah for the 2025-26 season and became a full-time starter.

The timing matters for Kansas, which is trying to turn visits into commitments as the portal cycle moves forward. Dawes’ decision after the trip will help show whether the Jayhawks can convert an active week of recruiting into the piece they still need inside.
