Rovman Powell reached 6,000 runs in T20 cricket during Kolkata Knight Riders' 2026 Indian Premier League match against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The milestone came off the 17th run from his blade and arrived in his 331st T20 appearance.
Powell's entry into the 6,000-run club underlines a career built on steady output and power hitting. Across 297 innings, he averages 25 with a strike rate of more than 140, and he has one T20 century, 24 half-centuries and 26 wickets to his name.
The West Indies batter is also his country's second-highest scorer in T20 internationals, with 2,261 runs in 117 matches at a strike rate of 141.84. Nicholas Pooran leads that list with 2,275 runs, leaving Powell just 14 short of the top spot in the format for West Indies.
Powell's broader T20 record stretches across franchise leagues around the world. He has 1,929 runs in the Caribbean Premier League, more than 900 in the ILT20, 500-plus in the Pakistan Super League and 400-plus in the IPL, a route that has taken him back to Kolkata after the franchise bought him ahead of IPL 2017.
He made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2022, later played for Rajasthan Royals and returned to Kolkata Knight Riders before the 2025 season. That winding path now places him at another career marker, with the 6,000-run milestone showing how long Powell has stayed relevant in a format that rarely gives a batter much room to breathe.
