Dave McGinnis, the Titans Radio gameday color analyst who stayed visible around the Tennessee Titans for seasons after his coaching days, has died at 74. The team said McGinnis remained a man who never stopped coaching and encouraging, even as his role in the NFL changed in more recent years.
The Titans also described him as a friend to many, generous with his time, money and stories. That was the voice fans heard on Titans Radio and the presence they saw in recent years at team events, including with Mike Keith during the preseason game against the New England Patriots at Nissan Stadium on Aug. 25, 2023, before the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium on Nov. 19, 2023, during the game against the Indianapolis Colts on Dec. 3, 2023, during the preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 17, 2024, with Burke Nihill at OTA practice on June 11, 2024, with Taylor Zarzour at training camp practice on July 23, 2025, and again at training camp practice on Aug. 2, 2025.
Those appearances show how McGinnis stayed woven into the organization’s public life across multiple seasons, long after his coaching career had evolved into a broadcast role. The team’s tribute did not include a cause of death or say when he died, leaving the simplest fact to carry the weight: one of the most familiar voices around the Titans is gone, and the places where fans most recently saw him are now the last record of how closely he remained tied to the team.
For Nashville and the Titans community, that makes the loss more than a broadcast note. It closes the book on a figure the team itself cast as both teacher and companion, someone who kept showing up, kept talking football and kept giving his time until the final season in which he was still part of the scene.
