Former Washington guard Jj Mandaquit has committed to Arizona, giving Tommy Lloyd a backcourt addition who already has one season of college basketball behind him. Mandaquit, who played his true freshman year at Washington, will join the Wildcats with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Mandaquit played in 22 games and started six, averaging 5.2 points per game while shooting 43.6% from the field and 28.2% from three-point range. He also averaged just over two rebounds and three assists per game, a useful stat line for an Arizona team that is adding a guard with college game experience rather than waiting on a prospect to learn on the fly.
The move also reconnects Mandaquit with Lloyd, who is Arizona's head coach and the current head coach of the United States U-19 team. Mandaquit was part of a gold medal-winning U-19 squad with Lloyd, and the shared history now carries over into Tucson.

That U-19 bond reaches beyond Lloyd. Caleb Holt, another teammate from that team, has also committed to Arizona, while Koa Peat was on the same roster. The pipeline gives Arizona a familiar group of young players who have already worked in the same competitive setting and now can bring that experience to the Wildcats.

Mandaquit arrived at Washington as a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle and was ranked the No. 6 point guard in the class. He was also ranked No. 4 in Utah and No. 49 overall in the Rivals Industry Ranking after playing at Utah Prep in Hilo, Hawaii. For Arizona, the appeal is straightforward: Mandaquit is not just a name from the recruiting board, but a guard who has already been through a season of Division I basketball and still has room to grow.
