on Thursday put a spotlight on the SEC's biggest new faces, and Georgia's pick was a familiar one. Billy Tucker named former Georgia Tech receiver Isiah Canion as the Bulldogs' top newcomer for 2026.
Canion arrives after a 2025 season at Georgia Tech in which he caught 33 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns. He also went 4 catches for 54 yards against Georgia in his final game for the Yellow Jackets, a reminder of the kind of production the Bulldogs are hoping to add.
At 6-foot-4, Canion gives Georgia the sort of frame that can change how a passing game looks. Tucker wrote that he is expected to immediately compete for a starting role opposite Humphreys and praised his size, ball skills and ability to separate on vertical and crossing routes, calling him an ideal intermediate and deep target in the offense. He also noted that a minor ankle injury is a spring setback, but said Canion tracks the ball well and makes difficult grabs look easy.
That matters because Georgia's passing offense is trying to take a step forward in 2026 with Gunner Stockton back under center. The Bulldogs were tied for fourth in the SEC in passer efficiency rating last season, and they will be aiming for a third straight SEC Championship this fall after adding an elite recruiting class and a strong crop of transfers.
Tucker compared Canion to CJ Daniels, who starred for Miami last fall, and said Georgia needs him healthy to provide the consistent big-play threat the team wants for CFP contention. The fit is clear enough: Georgia did not bring in Canion just to add depth, and the next question is whether he can turn that size and production into an every-week role when camp opens.
