Deportivo Mixco beat Xelajú M. C. 3-1 on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the estadio Santo Domingo de Guzmán and left itself assured of finishing no lower than third after matchday 19 of the Torneo Clausura 2026.
Nicolás Martínez opened the scoring from the spot in the 35th minute, then Kennedy Rocha doubled the lead in the 58th before Harim Quezada pulled one back for Xelajú in the 63rd. Fernando Arce settled it with a long-range strike in stoppage time at 90+4.
The result sent Mixco to 32 points and left Xelajú on 30, a gap that keeps the home side in the hunt for one of the top places as the Clausura tightens. Martínez’s penalty was his 13th goal of the tournament, underlining why he has been talked about as the leading scorer in both Mixco and the competition, and why he is closing in on a third straight individual scoring title.
It was a physical match from the start, with plenty of fouls and early chances at both ends before Mixco took control. Kevin Moscoso made a strong first-half save for the hosts, while Rubén Darío Silva was in goal for Xelajú. Steb Morales was the referee, and Neto Bran was present as he usually is at Mixco home games.
Mixco did not just win a game. It protected its place near the top, kept Martínez’s scoring chase alive and made the final stretch of the Clausura look even sharper for the teams still fighting for position.
