Yordan Alvarez kept producing at the plate on April 11, going 2-for-3 with a home run, one run scored, one walk and three RBI in the Astros' loss to the Mariners.
The 28-year-old was one of the most impactful options in Houston's lineup early in the season, and the showing against Seattle fit that stretch. Through 14 games, Alvarez was batting.341 with five homers, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored and one stolen base, while driving in runs in four of his last seven games.
That kind of output matters because it has given Joe Espada a middle-of-the-order bat that keeps delivering even when the result does not go Houston's way. Alvarez's line against Seattle added another strong night to a start that already had him among the club's most consistent run producers.

The bigger takeaway is that Alvarez is not just flashing power in isolated bursts. He is reaching base, driving in runs and forcing pitchers to work around him, and that has made him one of the earliest bright spots in the Astros' season.
