cody bolton is set for the first start of his major league career when the Houston Astros face the Colorado Rockies on Monday at 8:40 p.m. ET at Coors Field in Denver. The 27-year-old right-hander will get the ball in a ballpark that has long been one of the toughest in baseball for visiting teams.

The Astros enter the game 6-4 and atop the American League West, and Bolton's turn comes after he appeared in only one game this season. In that outing on March 31 against the Boston Red Sox, he worked three innings, allowed a 3.00 ERA and struck out five.

Bolton has been in motion since he first reached the majors in April 2023. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates 178th overall in the sixth round of the 2017 draft, he was picked up by the Seattle Mariners in November 2023 and joined the Cleveland Guardians in April 2025 before landing with Houston.

That path has taken him through four different clubs in just over two years, and Monday gives him a chance to show he can hold a rotation spot in a park where mistakes tend to get exposed quickly. For the Astros, the assignment is simple: protect a strong start to the season while asking a newcomer to handle one of the most unforgiving stages in the sport.
