Sam Burns and his wife, Caroline, are expecting their second child in July, a family update that landed just as the golfer headed into the second round of the Masters tied for the lead. Todd Lewis said Thursday on Live From the Masters that the Burnses are about to welcome another baby, adding a personal note to one of the week’s biggest golf stories.
The family already has one son, Bear, and the timing gives Burns another layer of attention at Augusta National. Lewis also drew a comparison to Scottie Scheffler’s home life, noting that Scheffler and his wife, Meredith, welcomed their second son, Remy, before the Masters. In that same run-up to the tournament, Burns talked about the challenge of Amen Corner, calling it “obviously a difficult stretch” and saying the key is “just trusting the wind,” because “a lot of times it can swirl around and you can get confused.”
The ties between Burns and Caroline stretch back years. In a 2019 interview with WJCL, Caroline said they grew up in the same hometown, went to different schools and did not start dating until college. She also said she had been his first valentine when they were five years old, a detail that still anchors their story in childhood, long before the Masters spotlight found them.

Burns has been just as open about their relationship. On Dec. 14, 2021, he wrote on Instagram that he could not imagine doing life without Caroline and called her “the most beautiful person I know.” It was the kind of post that sounded far removed from the demands of tournament golf, but it fits with a week in which Burns is juggling both a title chase and a growing family.

What makes the moment stand out is the overlap. Burns is trying to manage Augusta’s pressure while his off-course life is moving fast toward another major change in July. The next chapter is simple enough: if he keeps pace near the top of the Masters leaderboard, the Burnses could be celebrating both a strong finish and the arrival of their second child within months of each other.
