Juventus visit Atalanta BC on Saturday night with both clubs still outside Serie A’s top four and seven rounds left to fix it. The Turin side are fifth, one point behind Como, and know another slip could leave them chasing from the wrong side of the race for Europe’s top table.
Juventus arrive unbeaten in six games after beating Genoa in Turin on Monday evening, three days after a home draw with Sassuolo. They have also struggled to turn control into a run away from home under Luciano Spalletti, winning consecutive Serie A away matches only once since he took charge in November. That makes Bergamo a difficult place to ask for a statement result, even if the recent numbers between the clubs suggest another tight night.
Six of Juventus’s last eight league games against Atalanta have finished level, and the teams drew 1-1 when they last met in Serie A in September. Juventus were also beaten 3-0 by Atalanta in the Coppa Italia at New Balance Arena two months ago. The wider picture, though, is not one-sided: Atalanta have failed to lose in five Serie A contests against Juventus dating back to May 2023, but they have won only one of their last 20 league battles at home against the same opponent.
Atalanta go into the match after a 3-0 win over Lecce and have been one of the strongest sides in Italy since the start of 2026. They have lost only one league game in that span, won nine times and collected 31 points, a return bettered only by Inter Milan in calendar year 2026. Raffaele Palladino has also settled in quickly, averaging two points per game since taking over as head coach.
Juventus will have to manage without Weston McKennie, who is suspended, while Mattia Perin came off injured against Genoa. Michele Di Gregorio is set to start in goal after coming on at half-time against Genoa and saving a penalty. For Juventus, that leaves the trip to Bergamo as more than a test of form: it is a chance to protect their place in the queue, with Roma and Atalanta close behind and the margin for error shrinking fast.
Atalanta know the opening is there as well. They are still outsiders in the chase, but with only one league defeat since the start of 2026 and a home record against Juventus that has rarely produced much reward either way, Saturday night offers the sort of game that can reshape the table just as the season runs out of room.
