Celtic are preparing to open talks in the €30 million bracket for Benjamin Nygren after the forward’s breakout season made him one of the club’s most valuable assets. The 23-year-old has scored 19 goals and added eight assists across all competitions, making him Celtic’s top scorer and putting him firmly on the radar of clubs across Europe.
Nygren, signed for €1.5 million last summer, is earning in the region of £15,000 to £20,000 a week at Celtic, a figure that would rise sharply if he moved to the Premier League or La Liga. His wages are expected to increase at least three to four times, and that gap has helped fuel interest from Tottenham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Valencia and Lille.
Tottenham see Nygren as a strategic and cost-effective option for their attacking rotation, while Celtic management are prepared to stand aside if what they regard as an unstoppable offer comes in this summer. There is no official written bid on the table yet, but last month Nygren’s agent reportedly held several meetings in London, adding momentum to a story that has been building for weeks.

The timing matters because Celtic are not just thinking about a sale; they are planning around it. The club is said to see a major transfer as a way to fund a squad overhaul for the Champions League, with any revenue spread across three positions rather than used to find one direct replacement. Calvin Miller is already being lined up as a possible successor if Nygren leaves.
Celtic have said Nygren is focused on the league title and that transfer speculation will be dealt with at the end of the season. That may be true inside the dressing room, but the market around him is moving now, and Nygren himself has already made clear what drives the next step: playing in Europe’s major leagues is every footballer’s dream.
