MSC Cruises is scrapping the Arabian Gulf winter season aboard Msc World Europa and sending the ship to the French Antilles instead. The cruise line said the vessel, which had been set to sail from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha from November 2026 through April 2027, will now operate new 7- and 14-night itineraries in the Caribbean region.
The change affects a ship built to carry nearly 7,000 passengers and would have marked Msc World Europa’s debut in the Gulf. MSC said the replacement sailings will include Martinique, Guadeloupe and Barbados, offering what it described as a winter-sun experience in one of the world’s most desirable warm-weather destinations. The company also said the ship’s innovative features and next-generation guest experiences made it well suited to the new program.
Passengers were notified by email before the announcement and were offered a choice of swapping into another MSC sailing of the same length and cabin category. MSC said it would honor the most favorable cruise fare between the original booking and the replacement trip. Flights and additional services are not included in the offer, and refunds are available for customers who do not accept the swap.
The decision fits a broader retreat from the Arabian Gulf by cruise lines that had been expanding there. Msc World Europa had previously remained in the Mediterranean before this planned move, and the switch now lines it up with recent pullbacks by Costa Cruises, AIDA Cruises and Explora Journeys. For passengers, the immediate question is not where the ship was supposed to go, but whether the new Caribbean routing is close enough to what they booked to keep them on board.
