Neymar’s return to Santos has landed the club in court. A lawyer and Santos member, Iván Luduvice, filed a lawsuit in the last hours against the Brazilian team, questioning the legality of the 34-year-old forward’s contract and asking for the removal of president Marcelo Teixeira.
The dispute centers on a clause that links Neymar’s renewal to the re-election of the club president. Under the challenged arrangement, Santos could be required to pay 90.5 million reais, about 15.21 million euros, to Neymar if there is a change in the board. The debt could be claimed in full by his entourage, including his father and agent, if certain conditions are met, among them Teixeira’s departure. The same package of guarantees would also have put the Meninos da Vila training center up as collateral.
Teixeira defended the clauses as contractual guarantees and denied any intention of benefiting personally. He said the goal was to preserve continuity in Santos’ sporting and economic project, and he denied any intention to hand over control of the Meninos da Vila training center to NR Sports.

The fight lands at a sensitive moment for Santos, whose return of Neymar had been seen as part of the club’s reconstruction after difficult recent years. It also comes as the team continues to grapple with serious financial difficulties, making any obligation measured in tens of millions of reais more than a legal argument on paper.
What makes the case unusually sharp is the overlap between the boardroom and the player’s camp. The contract structure ties Neymar’s future to the club’s leadership while placing assets and money on the line, turning his comeback into a test not only of ambition but of how far Santos can stretch to protect it.
