Al Akhdar SC and Al Nasr SC Benghazi shared a 1-1 draw in the opening round of the Libyan Premier League playoff on a day when narrow margins defined the slate. The match was scoreless in the first half before Al-Jazouli Nouh put Al Akhdar ahead and Nasr El Din pulled Al Nasr level.
The result was one of several tight finishes in the opening round. Al Hilal Benghazi beat Al Afreky 1-0, Al Ahly Benghazi defeated Al Ittihad Al Askari 2-1, Asswehly SC edged Al Ittihad Misurata 1-0 and Al Madina SC got past Al Olympic Club 3-2, while Al Ittihad Tripoli and Al Ahli Tripoli ended 0-0.
For Al Nasr, one of the Group Two teams in the playoff, the point keeps the side in touch after a first match that did little to separate the contenders. In a title race where every point is likely to matter, opening rounds like this can shape both momentum and pressure.
The friction for the field is already plain. Several matches were decided by a single goal, and the only scoreless contest left Al Ittihad Tripoli and Al Ahli Tripoli with nothing to separate them. The second round was set for Sunday, giving the teams little time to reset before the next round of results begins to sort out the table.
What comes next is not the calendar but the counting. After a first round built on small margins, Sunday’s second round will show whether Al Nasr can turn a shared point into a stronger position, or whether the playoff remains a grind where no side is allowed much breathing room.
