said she wished she had gotten an official sendoff when she left ABC's early-morning show, adding a personal note to a departure that had already unfolded in public. In a recent interview with published May 8, Norman said she loved her time at ABC and wanted the farewell to better reflect the ties she built with coworkers and viewers.

“I loved my time at ABC. It was such a gift. I had so much fun, so many incredible experiences, and it was such a dream come true for me,” Norman said. She added that “because of the way my experience unfolded, viewers were there with me every step of the way,” and said, “I wish I'd had a sendoff that honored the connections that I had with so many of my coworkers, and most importantly, the viewers.”

The remarks come after Norman released a candid video in early April on her social media accounts about her exit. In that video, she said she “hoped that we'd have more time,” and told followers, “It’s been hard on me that our time was cut short.” She also said, “I have loved my job,” and described it as “a joy to connect with my coworkers and with viewers, to help keep you informed and entertained, and to create this community.”

Norman's departure has taken on extra weight because reports citing said her contract expired and was not renewed. That detail was never part of her own public explanation, but it framed the abruptness of a move that came after years of visible work inside ABC's morning lineup. Norman joined the network in 2011 as an intern, returned after time in local news, and worked on several programs before helping spearhead the second hour of Saturday's “GMA” in 2019. She became a co-anchor in 2022.

That history makes the absence of a formal farewell more noticeable, especially for a broadcaster who spent more than a decade moving up inside the same company. marked the moment with a note of her own, writing, “You are a true gem and thoroughly enjoyed working with you. I treasure our friendship.”

Norman has also made clear that she is not done telling her own story. Her upcoming memoir, “Breaking,” is set for release in January 2027, and she said the book takes readers behind the scenes of those years and offers another perspective on the same story. In the farewell video, she left viewers with one last tease: “Stay tuned.”

What happens next is no mystery. Norman is stepping away from the on-air role that made her familiar to weekend viewers, and she is now turning that chapter into a book that will revisit the career move, the pressure around it and the private side of a very public exit.
