“We can only keep working, and I believe we are capable of overcoming the last defeat, which was tough,” Míchel said before the match. “We need to think only about ourselves and secure the three points tomorrow, which we really need.”
That need is plain enough in the way Girona are approaching the game. Míchel said the locker room still has its competitive ambition intact, adding that the side must focus on what it does well and sharpen the small details that can decide a tight match. He said the team is ready to fight and win the remaining matches, and that responsibility now rests on doing the work at “two hundred percent.”
The coach also framed the meeting as difficult because of what Rayo have become this season. He said the Madrid side made history by reaching their first qualification for a European final, and described them as a direct team that is dangerous in transitions at Vallecas. Míchel added that Rayo are second in the league in intensity, behind only Real Sociedad.
For Girona, the task is clear enough: recover from the Mallorca setback, protect their own game, and leave Vallecas with three points. Míchel closed by saying the team is convinced of what it has to do, a sign that the response he wants is already being demanded inside the dressing room.
