The matchup gives the semifinal a familiar edge. This will be the fifth time Chivas face La Máquina in the Liguilla of short tournaments, with the clubs meeting three times in the quarterfinals in AP25, AP06 and INV98, and once more in the Reclassification stage in CL03.
The only uncertainty left is the stage for the opening leg, which has not been fixed between Mexico City and Puebla.
