Minnesota United FC hosted Austin FC at Allianz Field on May 10, 2026, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. on Matchday 12. The day started with the Sun Country Pre-Party at 4 p.m., gates opening at 4:30 p.m., and the Wonderwall March to the Match gathering an hour before kickoff at The Calling loon sculpture.
The buildup had the feel of a full stadium day, and Minnesota leaned into it. Stadium Club ticketholders were invited to an exclusive pregame Chalk Talk with Amos Magee at 5 p.m., while Sections 21–23 in the Supporters Section were reserved for those in the Wonderwall. The match also landed on Mother’s Day, giving the home crowd an extra reason to arrive early.
Food options were part of the draw. The Allianz Field Kids’ Meal was available at the Hungry Loon in Sections 10, 13, 22 and 34 for $11.99, while a new value menu offered hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, water and soda for under $5 at the Hungry Loon in Sections 10 and 22. Nick Kramarczuk from Kramarczuk’s was also serving pierogi and kielbasa in Section 30.
Before the soccer started, the club lined up a string of honors and in-game moments. The pregame ceremony included a presentation of the colors by Scout Troop 9091 and a coin toss by Dakotah Popehn and Annie Frisbie. Susan Davies-Polzine was recognized as the Allina Scoreboard Keeper of the Game, Jens Selin as the SeatGeek Fan of the Game, Hazel as the NutriSource SuperStar, the Stankevitz family as the Red Baron Family of the Game, Than Than Kyaw as the Target L'Étoile du Nord and Ka Xiong of the U.S. Army as the Xcel Energy Eye of the Loon.
The setting mattered because Minnesota United FC came home after extending its regular-season road streak to four consecutive wins, including three points in Columbus last weekend. Austin FC arrived still looking for its first road win of the season, and the teams were meeting for the first time since the season opener. That made this more than a May date on the calendar: it was a home test for Minnesota against an opponent that had not solved away matches yet.
For Minnesota, the night was as much about atmosphere as it was about points. The crowd was being asked to show up early, stay loud and carry the home side into a game that could tell a lot about where both clubs stood a dozen matches into the season.
