The Charlotte Hornets are most likely headed for the No. 14 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, but Caleb Wilson could become the kind of swing worth watching if they climb into the top four. The North Carolina standout has stayed near the top of draft boards even after an injury-shortened freshman season cut off his chance to show what he could do in March Madness.
Wilson, who is 6'10", posted 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks before breaking his right thumb in practice. That all-around line is a big reason he remains a consensus top-four prospect in most mock drafts, with evaluators pointing to a disruptive, switchable defender who can guard multiple positions and could handle minutes at small-ball five once he fills out his frame.
The fit in Charlotte is easy to see because the Hornets need help in the frontcourt, and Wilson’s length and versatility would give them options at both ends. His 25.9% shooting from three-point range is also the main reason some critics keep him lower on their boards, since the outside shot has not yet matched the rest of his game.
That leaves the Hornets in a familiar place: likely sitting at No. 14, with Wilson out of reach unless lottery luck breaks their way. If it does, the pick would not be a luxury. It would be a chance to land a player whose ceiling still looks high enough to change the shape of the roster.
