Municipal and Mixco will define the first finalist of the Clausura 2026 on Saturday at Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera El Trébol, with kickoff set for 6:00 PM. Municipal takes a 2-0 lead into the return leg after winning the first match at Santo Domingo de Guzmán.
Rodrigo Saravia and Pedro Altán scored in the first leg, giving Municipal a cushion that leaves Mixco needing a win by at least three goals to turn the series around outright. If the aggregate score is tied, Municipal advances because it finished higher in the Clausura 2026 table.
That edge is not a small one. Municipal was the most regular team of the season in the accumulated table with 86 points, which means it can move on with a draw or even a loss by one or two goals. Mixco, by contrast, enters Saturday needing a heavy result simply to keep its semifinal alive.
The winner will advance to the Clausura 2026 final and face the survivor of Xelajú MC and Comunicaciones, who meet on Sunday at Mario Camposeco. For Municipal, the task is to protect what it already built in the first leg. For Mixco, the assignment is simpler to state and harder to do: score early, score often and hope the margin keeps growing before the night runs out.
The series now sits where knockout soccer often does, between control and desperation. Municipal has the numbers, the lead and the table position. Mixco has only the need for a response big enough to change everything in one night.
